About Father Chitral

Rev. Chitral de Mel resides in Douglas, MA. Originally from Sri Lanka, he and his wife, Vyonni, made their way to the USA in 1989. Their daughter, Chirusha, accomplished her graduation at Stonehill College in 2018 and is presently engaged in teaching in Westborough.

Chitral holds a Master of Divinity Degree from the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a Master of Science degree in Mass Communication from Clarion University in Pennsylvania. In addition, he has successfully completed a Diploma in Leadership and Non-Profit Management at Boston University. Chitral was ordained as a Priest in the Diocese of Massachusetts in January 2006. Over the years, he has served as an interim priest at St. Mary's Church in Dorchester and as the Urban Resident at St. Anne's and St. John's Church in Lowell.

Before his career in ministry, Chitral practiced law in Sri Lanka and was also a part of the staff at the National Council of Churches in Sri Lanka.
