GOING GREEN As a stewardship project, the church school will be “greening up coffee hour.” We will replace the single use Styrofoam cups with re-usable ceramic coffee cups, which will be cleaned and ready to use each week. This project will help us reduce waste, save money, and provide opportunities for fellowship and ministry. You can help by placing the used cups in the designated bin or you could even bring your own mug.
“Give us all a reverence for the earth as your own creation, that we may use its resources rightly in the service of others and to your honor and glory.” – from Prayers of the People, Form IV, Book of Common Prayer
WELL…IT’S FINALLY HAPPENED…THE NEW BOILER IS IN: Thanks to the incredible efforts of Sam Kilroy, Robert Parrott and George Chu the new boiler has been installed.
NEW PROJECT–NEW WINDOWS IN THE RECTORY: Well…the new windows installed in the Parish Hall have been such a success, we (as in Sam Kilroy) began the project of replacing the windows in the rectory along with additional maintenance items that were needed. The project has been completed and a big thank you to Sam for seeing the project through from beginning to end.
NEW LED LIGHTS: We are especially excited as the Diocese awarded the Church of the Good Shepherd a Green Grant this year which will allow us to complete numerous improvements to conserve energy. Our first project was to replace all the lights in the Church and the Rectory with LED lights. On average, we are saving approximately 25 percent per month on our electrical bills.
NEW WINDOWS IN THE PARISH HALL: Well…the new windows have been installed and the job was completed in one day. They look beautiful. The hall seems quieter and a little warmer. The efforts by many contributed to the success of this project. Thank you to the Episcopal Diocese of Boston for the Green Grant which made this great improvement possible. The next project will be the insulation of the pipes in the basement of the rectory…onward and upward.
